Jack be nimble

Looking through an Xbox 360 heat sink

We went to a football game at Byers field on Friday, Lakewood had their feelings hurt by Valley Forge. The night was glowing as the sun melted into purple and orange clouds while we sat high in the stands among squeeling teens and watchful security officers. We talked about the fact that, for many, this is as good as it will ever get; football star, cheerleader, band member or student with entire lives looking out into hopeful bliss.

The real highlite was the Lakewood band. They marched out at half time with giant Laverne styled script L's on their backs and busted into...wait for it...a Rolling Stones medley. Jumping Jack Flash was first, a brilliant arrangement for marching band, Jane and I were impressed. Then it seemed like we were transported to some kind of bizzaro world when they changed formation to the muted tune of Paint it Black. I swear to God: Paint it Black! We laughed so hard we cried.

I hope all those kids can find a partner who they can cry with and play with and laugh with and maybe realize that it just keeps getting better, if not more absurd and bizzare.

  1. The Lakewood marching band is pretty awesome - we've applauded them on the Fourth of July for years. I'm glad for a good partner too!
