Shaky B

****With these spectacular spectacles I can see into your soul

****With these grand gazers I feel adorable and fancy

****With these extra eyes I absorb your light and feed my inner toads

Beatrice barked and whined when I rolled in around 10:30 last night. I fixed my breakfast and tossed her a couple of carrots before heading to the living room for a blast of NBA playoffs before bed. Before long I shut off the lights and made my weary way upstairs while Beatrice stayed in her chair, probably exhausted from Miss Jane's brisk pace at their afternoon walk.

Flashing lights and rumbles greeted my opening eyes and ears, Herself was panting at the base of the bed steps. She climbed up the stairs and slithered between Jane and I where she trembled after the strobes in anticipation of the booms and crashes.

I have suffered anxiety in the past and pondered how such an "advanced" being like ourselves can have such a similar response to fear, real or imagined, as a dog. Perhaps I had to experience it in my life to gain empathy for our shaking pet.

I am happy to report that the storm blew by quickly and our beloved basset has made a full recovery. May this be the first of many warm weather storms with happy endings.

  2. Maybe Shaky Bea needs to wear those frog specs - that could help. Just sayin', as one anxiety sufferer to another.
