Lights

You know, one day I'll be a good person. I passed a giant SUV this morning with "CALIFORNIA GIRL" blasted across the tinted rear window in 4" chrome Gothic style script. I absolutely had to look and see what kind of saint or angel would drive with such a shiny message on her backside. Hunched over the wheel, cigarette in the left hand, looking bleary on her way (home?) to work or wherever, nothing that would really say "I'm the one who bought the sticky letters and pasted them on my truck", I really don't know what I expected to see, maybe a tanned blond in a bikini with a Barbi smile and a giant spliff. I turned my attention to the gray sky and 30 degree weather and took satisfaction that Barbi "CALIFORNIA GIRL" is a l0ooong way from home in the rusting blustery cold mid west and, of course, that nobody cares where you're from, the fact is you are HERE. Ha ha, aha. Like I said, one day...

I installed a set of motion sensing outdoor lights last weekend. There was a steel pipe on the back of the house for no apparent reason, so I took it down and, surprise, there were wires inside. I traced them to a circuit and a switch and decided to run some fresh water-tight conduit and put up the lights. They help to find your key when walking up to the back door at night.

  1. motion sensors!! now you can practice your ninja moves as you see how close to the door you can get before the light comes on...that's what I do with ours...
