So I built this fence for composting all of the organic material that comes from our house and our yard. I believe there is a price for everything and that price always comes due no matter what. That price, whether the currency is love or effort or hate or organic material, is the great leveler, bringing mountain tops and sea canyons eye to eye. If I do not work towards paying my level, someone else will. This may not make sense, but it helps bring me peace, kind of like an evolving Ying-Yang Zen-Green philosophy I guess.
So here's how:
I used lumber harvested from the skids we receive steel sheet on from work, very hard and dense stuff. The long ones were cut to 96" and the short sides to 46".I'm not good at identifying wood but the colors hint toward a few different species. I drilled 3/4" holes 2" in from the ends on the center line of each piece.Beatrice helped herself to the rotting goodness, here are the cut and drilled members which will solve the unsanitary snacking problem.I staked 1/2" conduit through one end and worked my way around.I used PVC pipe that was headed for the dumpster for spacers and stacked a couple members for the bottoms of the doors.Up she goes, the tops of the doors installed. I pounded the conduit into the earth about 14".Planking from the skids was used to tie the top and bottom door members together.I nailed chicken wire to the inside and installed a fancy store-bought latch.
