The drive to Canton was quiet except for the gusting wind and the radio din as we were both content to ride with our own thoughts to Jeff's Dad's funeral service. Overcast and gray, the earth looked raw and worn from the choking winter while the 60 degree temperature kept the lamps of hope lit in our hearts.
The Jewish service was personal and beautiful, and a new experience for this Catholic and everyone seems to be doing alright. On the ride home we listened to Johnny Cash's Unchained which prolonged the spiritual day unfolding before us. Jane and I stopped for lunch and again enjoyed quiet company amidst the clatter of the busy restaurant, she dropped me off at work where I feel wonderfully human and full and sad and happy.
