The tie rod end decided to let go and the wheel managed to stay straight enough to make it home.
I could have been doing 60 instead of 6 and on the highway instead of the driveway. The tie rod is the link that connects your wheel to the steering, without it the wheel flops around freely.
The repair went relatively smooth, but finding a used rim to match the one I damaged on a curb this winter proves more of a challenge. (the damaged wheel could have weakened the tie rod with all of it's wobbling)
Here is the new outer and inner tie rod and adjustment sleeve installed. Happy Saturday.
hmmm...I spent the happy saturday futzing with taxes...guess I won't complain. Just wondering, did you replace the other side too? or leave that for next weekend?
ReplyDeleteOH boy. I am nervous and frustrated with the whole car thing. Good job fixing your own tie rod. I'm glad you are ok.
