Lucas helped pick out our (Clark Griswold) tree again this year, here is a candid photo of Ellen, er, Jane hugging the tree.
We went with simple white lights, it was frozen when we got it home and were pleased that besides bending under the ceiling, it has a rather nice shape and full figure. Beatrice wonders why her chair has moved.
The tree came with a bonus! A green beetle started buzzing in our lamp and I caught it in a container. It must be one of Santa's littlest helpers, though I'm not quite sure how it helps. Perhaps it eats the gypsy moth larvae before they destroy the tree. IDK, anyone?
The green critter is still alive after 2 days in the tupperware. I am afraid to let it into our environment as it may be some kind of evil alien. Does anyone know what this is called? I have searched the interwebs with no luck.
UPDATE: Thanks to Quixotia for revealing the identity of the green invader, it is a shield bug or stink bug. I mean, the question must be asked, why wouldn't our Christmas tree have a stink bug nesting in it?

Looks like you've got yourself a shieldbug there. :) Could be as simple as a Green Shieldbug, but there's tons of varieties.
ReplyDeleteEwww, ewww, why is it still in the house, ewwww. Now I know why I like my fake tree, it did not occur to me til now, I could not tolerate any nature bugs IN my house with a real tree, again i say EWWWWW
