The tree must come down. The green giant stands next to the futon and I couldn't sit any closer to it. Watching Law and Order. I know why it must be disected, yet, I hesitate.
The evergreen has absorbed the giggles and smiles and sighs of the season. In this living room, in this house-from the muddy lot where it stood cold, not chosing; where I chose it. A happy ending, the tree probably thinks; nice, warm and joyful home. I loathe undressing the shapely spruce, detest dragging the angerless bringer of comforting pine scent to the curb. Oh great absorbing branches, forgive me.
The bitter-sweet push-pull beauty of good-byes.
Strangling easiness, letting go of good tries.
At once; to surrender complete.
All at once; denial-defeat.
