Shine on

October was a whirlwind. Spun right by while we hopped on to grab what we could, packing orphan autumn dreams and plans in cardboard boxes for next year, or maybe November if she's kind. Sweet blessed October moons and hayrides and pumpkin tops askew with sinewy goo streaming out the mouth of pitiful jack-o-lanterns.

In the dark this morning while I opened the car door, a small tree across the street caught my attention with its deep red bouquet and stark white trunk. I stood there awhile soaking in the beauty of everything with my hands and my heart full.
